Spooky MACtion in Toledo
We were 2-0 in MACtion last night, and we have one more game tonight. It may be All Hallows’ Eve, but don’t be afraid about the large amount of points we are all about to be laying.
Ball State @ Toledo (-19)
At first glance, 19 may seem like a lot of points for some simple Wednesday night MACtion. Lucky for you, we took a deeper dive. Both these teams are playing on short (6 days) rest, which gives the Rockets a greater advantage for getting this one at home. These two teams are certainly on different paths at this point in the season. Toledo is 2-2 in the conference and still has an outside shot at the MAC West title. Meanwhile, Ball St is facing an almost unbelievable amount of injuries. The Cardinals enter this game down their starting QB, RB, and most likely two wide receivers. In fact, Ball St’s backup QB Jack Milas is currently listed as questionable. The bottom line is the Cardinals are going to have issues scoring. They currently rank 108th in the country in scoring offense, WITH not-starting 1st string QB Riley Neal.
The Rockets have an injury concern of its own. Fortunately, for us, it shouldn’t have much of an impact on tonight’s outcome. Toledo starting QB Mitchell Guadagni is questionable with an injured shoulder. Backup, Eli Peters has already filled in for Guadagni, starting earlier in the season when Guadagni was benched vs Buffalo. We know at least the Rockets’ coaching staff believes there isn’t much of a gap between the two. Toledo is scoring just over 40 points a game and we don’t foresee them having to score much more than that to cover the nearly 3 TD spread as we expect Ball St to struggle.
