NFL Week 14 Monday Night Football - Giants at Eagles

[No units] Eagles (-9.5) vs. Giants

3.3 Units - Eagles -7 or less

Tonight’s NFC East battle falls squarely in the RedZone.  That means at Philly -9.5 you should not put any units on this one. However, since we know some of you have no choice or just want some entertainment on a rainy December Monday night, we have some thoughts. While it is nice that the line has stayed below double digits, our model has this game at almost exactly 9.5, meaning there is close to zero value.

Philadelphia, at 5-7, amazingly is still 100% alive for the division title and a playoff berth. They haven’t won since November 3rd, but they are pretty healthy and have the motivation knowing they get to play the Giants twice, the Redskins, and the Cowboys to round out the season. Even at 5-7, we have the Eagles as a top-10ish team and believe they could make some noise if they do manage to get in. The return of Alshon Jeffery last week provided a much-needed spark to an offense that has certainly struggled at times this season. They have played as a slightly above average squad, but have the potential to be in the top 10. This is obviously a must win game at home against a division rival, so expect the motivation to be there.

The other sideline is a completely different story. The Giants are a complete mess. There is not much analysis needed here. At 2-10, they have been awful across the board. So much so that they’ll probably end up with Chase Young in the 2020 draft. The sad thing is Saquon Barkley is a generational talent and we are in year two of it being wasted on this garbage team. We will get to see Eli Manning strap em up for one more start in prime time as Daniel Jones is out with a high ankle sprain. If he remains the starter for the rest of the season, Chase should probably start looking for NY real estate.

All that being said, double digits within the division is a large spread. This game may end up being a blow out, but there is just not enough value to unitize this matchup.  If you must, give the points, but keep it small.
