#22 Iowa @ Ohio State
Location – Columbus, OH
Tip – 7pm
Spread – OSU -2
Promathletics lean – Iowa ML
Super Tuesday is here, and we got a Big Ten showdown in Columbus, OH. The (17-10) Ohio State Buckeyes host (21-6) the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Hawkeyes have won 5 of their last 6 games as they beat Indiana last Friday in OT, 76-70. Chris Holtman’s Buckeyes have lost 3 of their last 4 games with their most recent loss on Saturday. Maryland beat the Buckeyes 72-62, while the Bucks only shot 36% from the field.
Ohio State is led by Sophomore Forward, Kaleb Wesson, who is averaging 14.4 ppg. The Bucks struggle to score at times and only average 70 ppg. However, they are only allowing 64.3 ppg, which is good for 26th in the nation. They shoot 44.7% from the field and 35% from beyond the arc.
The Hawkeyes are led by Junior Forward, Tyler Cook. Cook is averaging 16 ppg and 8 rebounds. Iowa also has one of the Big Tens best 3-point shooters, Jordan Bohannon. Bohannon is shooting it 41% from 3 and averages 11.7 ppg. Iowa as a team average 80.4 ppg (33rd).
Both teams met in early January at Iowa. The Hawkeyes were victors as they won 72-62. Even in the loss the Buckeyes were 10/25 from the 3-point line. As of this morning, the Bucks were favored by 2 and our models agree. So, with no real value we do not recommend betting this game. However, if you want some Big Ten action, our internal lean would be to take Iowa with the points or to win straight up. Iowa is one of the top scoring teams in the nation and we think this will be a repeat result of the last matchup.
