NBA on ESPN Wednesday Night - Portland at Boston Prediction
Portland Trail Blazers at Boston Celtics
Tip-off: 8pm EST on ESPN
Market Line: Boston -3
ProMathletics View: slight lean on Portland +3
The prime-time game of the week for ESPN is a dandy, with a pair of 37-win teams squaring off in Boston. That's a loooong trip for the Trail Blazers, who haven't exactly been stellar on the road this year. They are only 13-15 in away games, despite an overall record of 37-23...yikes. Boston, on the other hand, has taken pretty good care of business at home, going 23-8 season-to-date.
This number was stuck at Boston -2.5 for most of the day which is right on top of our ProMathletics projected line of the Cs -2.4. It has bumped up to -3 at time of writing, so we will follow the ever so slight 0.6-points of value on the Blazers. These primetime games don't typically offer the most amount of value on any given day, but they do usually get teams to play close to their true capability, which is a nice benefit over some non-nationally televised weekday games. This should be a nice showdown between Dam and Kyrie and the home/away splits are taken into account in our modeling, so we are rolling with the T-Blazers.
