After missing a week of Monday night baseball, we are back tonight as the A’s head to the windy city to take on the Cubbies. The A’s are hot, winners of 6 of their last 7 games, they find themselves .5 games back of the AL wildcard. They took 2 from Stl in a 2-game series which helped propel the Cubs into 1st place in a tight NL central. The Cubs have helped themselves as well. They have won 5 of their last 7 and swept the Brewers over the weekend and stand 1.5 games in front of the Cardinals.

The A’s will throw righthander, Chris Bassitt. Bassitt is 7-5 with a 3.84 era. He is walking 3.3 batters per game and has a SIERA of 4.63. Bassitt posted a 4.29 era through 77 innings the 1st half of the season but has thrown 23 innings the 2nd half with a 2.35 era. The Oakland offense is towards the top of league in creating runs with a wRC+ of 103. That falls to 97 when on the road.

The Cubs are throwing the crafty righty, Kyle Hendricks, tonight. Hendricks is 8-8 with a 3.66 era, and a 4.32 SIERA. Hendricks home/away splits this year have been significant. He has a 1.89 era at home and 4.32 era on the road. The Cubs offense is very similar to the A’s, as they too have a 103 wRC+. However, that bumps up to 105 at home.

As you can see, we have two very similar pitchers and similar offenses. However, the not only is Hendricks and the offense better at home so too is the Cubs record, as they are 39-18 at home this year. We think this game should be priced +/- 132 without the juice. We do not have any value to recommend a Greenzone play but for entertainment purposes we lean with the Cubbies at home.
