Happy MLB draft day! Very small slate of games today, but ESPN will be covering the Houston Astros who travel to Seattle to battle the Mariners. The Astros who have 3 of their best players on the IL have not wavered. They are 40-20 and swept the Oakland A’s last weekend. The Mariners have been a complete disaster of late. They are 3-17 their last 20 games. Let's hope the month of June is more kind to them.
The Astros are throwing the 23-year-old righty, Corbin Martin. Martin is 1-1 with a 5.51 era through 16IP. He has struggled with walking guys, as he has allowed 5 BB/9 so far. Like we mentioned earlier the Astros are without 3 of their best players, Altuve, Correa, and Springer. However, as a team they still lead the league in wRC+ at 123.
Seattle is deploying an “opener” pitcher tonight with Conner Sadzeck. Wade LeBlanc will follow Sadzeck and hopefully face the Astros line-up a couple times. LeBlanc is 2-2 with a 6.99 era but a 4.92 SIERA. He has struggled when facing a team’s lineup the 3rd time through, hence the reason of the opener. Seattle has a decent offense that sits at 108 in wRC+.
Our models slightly favors the Mariners but not enough to warrant a lean or a Greenzone pick. To start getting all of our valued Greenzone picks click here.
