Monday night baseball gives us a big AL East divisional game. Both the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays are in the hunt for a wildcard spot. The Rays are one game out and the Sox are 3. Both teams are coming off terrible series as both lost 2 of 3 to 2 non-playoff teams.
The Redsox will throw southpaw, Eduardo Rodriguez. ERod, is 11-4 with a 4.34 ERA (4.25 SIERA). He strikes out about 9 batters per game while walking 3. ERod has had a great offense behind him this year, hence his record. He should have a decent night as the Rays are below average at producing runs against lefties this year. The Redsox offense is one of the best in the league at producing runs (108 wRC+) but have struggled against lefties themselves this year (89 wRC+).
Jalen Meeks will serve as an opener for the Rays as he will look to get through the Red Sox lineup at least once. Meeks who is making his first start is 5-0 with a 2.78 ERA (4.42 SIERA) out of the bullpen. He has an 81% LOB rate which is why his 2.78 ERA is a tad misleading. The offense lead by Austin Meadows has a 101 wRC+ this year, but that drops to 94 when facing a lefty. The Rays had loss 6 straight before beating the White Sox yesterday.
This is a big series for both teams with wild card implications. We think the price of this game should be +/- 121 in favor of Boston. -113 doesn’t give us enough value for a true Greenzone game. However, we do lean Boston on the road. Click here if you want to start winning! We have been on a heater the last 3 days.
