College Football is Back
Miami Hurricanes vs. #8 Florida Gators @ Camping World Stadium - 7PM EST
We are back! The college football season finally kicks off this Saturday in what we are calling week 0, as week 1 will start the following Thursday with the rest of the college world starting their seasons. Not only do we get some early football action, but the algorithm gods have blessed us with a GreenZone game. The Gators and the Hurricanes square off in Orlando at Camping World Stadium. The Gators are 7-point favorites as they are ranked 8th in the AP polls versus an unranked Miami team.
Florida’s head coach Dan Mullen is looking to continue to build upon his Gators’ success in year 2, as he led them to a 10-win season last year. However, he will need to reload as they lost most of their offensive line and key starters on defense. The Canes are coming off a mediocre 7-win season in 2018. With Mark Reich retiring, Manny Diaz will take the reins this year. Diaz had himself a QB battle this spring between former Buckeye, Tate Martell, and redshirt freshman, Jerren Williams. A couple of weeks ago Diaz announced Williams will be QB1 to start the season. Williams, a former 4-star recruit, will look to bring some swagger back to South Beach this year. The U brings back quite a bit of talent and added quite a bit of talent via transfers.
The Gators on paper have the better team straight up but our models do not see them as a 7-point favorite. We are recommending taking the points and root for the U to keep it close.
